Deccan Optical is a pioneering name in eye-care and has many a first to its credit. Perhaps the first optical shop in Hyderabad, the first in India to introduce photocromatics in the year 1958, the first shop in South India to start a contact lens center and also to introduce soft lens in year 1968. Moreover, in 1982, it become the first one in India to introduce the Bevel Edgers, an automatic machine which accurately fits the lens on to the frame, the PD takers, a semi-automatic machine that takes the 'pupil distance' for centering the lens and the toughening the glass lens so that even it breaks, it disintegrates into blunt pieces ensuring maximum protection to the wearer.
